Non-Local Flow

Good Chi, the Sea and Me

What is Non-Local Flow?

Non-Local Flow has many meanings. It is discussed amongst surfers in the context of wave action; it is used in algebra equations and quantum physics. Spiritual analysts describe it as a state of consciousness. It's no wonder that Tanya Orme, a surfer and physics major on a journey of spiritual growth, wove it so beautifully into her mantra.

Non-Local Flow: Good Chi, the Sea and Me is a refreshing view of the world today through the eyes and mind of a traveling artist, anthropologist, writer, poet and humanitarian. It was compiled from dozens of travel journals that were found after her sudden, tragic death at the age of 24. The Non-Local Flow theme recurs often throughout the book.

Tanya Orme - Non-Local Flow

“Distinct intuition
Has taken me into higher levels
In three short years.
It was so amazing.
Sometimes crawling with desire for your presence,
Acknowledging that love is more than skin deep, or heart deep,
It’s a vibration that radiates from you,
From me
Between us
And everything and everyone in our field.
Now it gets exciting,
For change is ahead.
I feel giddy for a new journey.
Risks, adventures, unknown treasure.
No place to be.
That’s non-locality.”

– Tanya Orme

Non-Local Sunset by Tanya Orme

“Consciousness is non-local. It means it does not exist in space-time.
What spiritual traditions, wisdom traditions and even religious traditions
say is that it is transcendent, outside of space-time. That concept is
gradually becoming acceptable to scientists, that consciousness is non-local,
even though the experience of the world and of our body and the mind is local.”

– Deepak Chopra from Energy Times, Nov./Dec. 2009

On Being

“Being” is a new state of awareness I have begun to develop.
The very action of giving a descriptive word to a way of living
may be misleading.
However, this “be” state is simply a way of beginning to explain
my philosophy of senselessness.
“Being” is a word without concrete meaning attached,
Although most words probably are the same way.
So there are no limitations,
Expectations, etc. in a state of “be.”
There is unlimited awareness.
A state not describable by any words.
It’s sweating at a laundromat,
The lonely walks around the streets of Boca,
The children playing at the beach.
It is me, it is you, it is everything, it is nothing.
I act by just being.
I have no need for the past nor the future.
I have no need for identity.
I am as I am; I will be as I be
Whether I like it or not.
My thoughts, hobbies and possessions are not truly me.
There is no “me.”
There is only “be.”
This “be” is the surrender of belonging to this universe.
To looking up not at stars or suns
But to the energy of something vastly familiar
with no need for exploration or questioning.
This body is dead; this soul is alive.
This energy of being.
So here I am or here I am not.
BeingAnything I say would really work either way.
It’s about this beauty of purposelessness.
This experiencing not for gain – never for gain.
Maybe for growth like a circular vine,
Not really getting anywhere once you realize you’re looking.
